Committees

 

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for communicating with CCBFA members, the Chicago trade community, and the general public. The work of the PR committee includes drafting information blasts, posting to the organization’s social media accounts, and taking photos at the organization’s events. The committee also coordinates the CCBFA’s charitable activities.

Scholarship Committee

 

The Scholarship Committee administers the CCBFA’s Scholarship Fund. Each year, the committee awards college scholarship money to several deserving students from CCBFA’s member companies.

Customs Committee

The Customs Committee addresses the issues & concerns with CBP operations. The committee meets regularly with top CBP officials at the Port of Chicago to discuss and resolve issues raised by CCBFA members.

Golf Outing Committee

The Golf Outing Committee oversees the CCBFA’s annual golf outing which takes place each July. The committee selects the venue and the food & drink menus. The committee also coordinates sponsorship for this premier event. Committee members assist with the venue set-up and various other activities on the day of the event.

Holiday Party Committee

The Holiday Party Committee oversees the CCBFA’s annual Holiday Party held each December. The committee selects the venue, the food & drink menu, and decides on a theme for the party. Committee members assist with the venue set-up and various other activities on the day of the event.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee communicates on behalf of the CCBFA’s Board of Directors with local and national elected leaders on legislation affecting customs business, international movement of freight, transportation, infrastructure, and issues related to the various agencies that regulate the customs brokerage and international shipping industries. The committee members work closely with the NCBFAA’s Legislative Committee and participate each year in the NCBFAA’s Government Affairs Conference in Washington D.C.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee reviews & processes member applications and coordinates membership renewal.

Bylaws Committee

The By-laws Committee revises and updates the CCBFA by-laws as necessary. The committee members also address questions relating to the conduct of meetings, voting, and membership qualification.

Education Committee

The Education Committee plans & executes the CCBFA’s monthly educational seminars. The work of the committee includes brainstorming possible seminar topics and scheduling government agencies and trade experts to present on the topics chosen by the committee.

Transportation Committee

The Transportation & Export committee monitors local & national trends, challenges, and opportunities around truck, rail, air, and other aspects related to transportation. The committee also monitors matters relating to FTR, AES, FMC & IMO, and other export-related topics.

Website Committee

The Website Committee ensures the CCBFA website is working, functional, and up to date. The Website Committee works with the other CCBFA committees to publish information about our organization and events on the CCBFA website.

Finance & Administrative Committee

The Finance & Administrative Committee monitors the CCBFA’s finances, prepares financial reports for the Board of Directors, and oversees the administrative operation of the organization.
